Hassel Wood Industry Pellet Plant – Greenfield Project in the Westerwald
With the construction of a new pellet plant at its Stockum-Püschen site, Hassel Wood Industry has specifically expanded its value creation. The aim of the greenfield project was to establish a second, independent pillar alongside the sawn timber business. As a full-service provider, Salmatec took on the entire pelletizing process – from raw material feeding to loading the finished wood pellets.
The plant processes wood chips, sawdust, and wood shavings from its own production and is designed for the production of EN Plus A1 wood pellets. At the heart of the pelletizing process are two Salmatec Maxima 840 pelletizing presses with 400 kW drive power and a throughput of 5.5 to 6 t/h each. Large wet and dry chip silos ensure high operational reliability, flexibility, and continuous plant operation. It took only 13 months from the signing of the contract to the start of production in summer 2023.
